One of the biggest problems facing the county is the Navajo Reservation's claim to sovereignty and refusal to pay taxes for the services they receive.

Coconino county is currently promoting new Green building design standards, which will save energy in new homes.

Flagstaff has been poorly represented at the State Capitol due to being placed in the same district as the Navajo Nation. 2 of our 3 Legislators are Navajo Nation Citizens.  Navajo Nation citizens are exempt from paying State Income tax, Vehicle registration tax, Property tax, and State Sales tax.

It is time for the Navajo Nation to be fully integrated into Arizona or to be completely independent from the state.  We cannot continue having two Federally enforced classes of citizens.
